Brioche french toast with cherries & blackberries
If you have checked our brand new website and online store, you know we make traditional French brioche with real eggs and French butter. Naturally, we had to do a french toast recipe, so here we are!
Our buttery, rich and fluffy brioche is thickly sliced and dipped into a cinnamon & vanilla custardy egg and milk mixture. Cooked in butter is the only way to go and topped with our favorite in-season cherries and blackberries, it’s our breakfast dream come true.
We have omitted sugar from the recipe as we drench our french toast in pure maple syrup (expectedly so), and that’s sweet enough for us!
- 3 eggs
- 180ml / 3/4 cup full fat milk
- 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 4 slices of For the Love of Bread brioche, about 2.5 cm thick
- knob of butter - for cooking
In a large shallow dish or bowl whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract and cinnamon till combined. Dip each slice of brioche into the egg mixture and let sit for 45 seconds per side (until completely soaked). Heat a skillet over medium heat with a knob of butter. Gently transfer the brioche slices into the skillet and let cook till golden brown, about 2 minutes per side
To serve
- cherries & blackberries (or any other berries of your choice)
- icing sugar
- pure maple syrup
Plate the french toast on a platter with a generous amount of cherries and blackberries on top. Finish with a dusting of icing sugar and pure maple syrup. Enjoy!
